And back to life we come. The team is slowly waking up and finding out that we really did have a lot of fun at the 25. And sometimes in racing that is a big lesson to learn. We’ve learned over the years that our desire to win is very strong, but we’ve also learned that the journey should be just as fun. To those of you who were lucky enough to make the race and peak into our little 20×40 Pavilion, you would understand. We had a several dedicated cooks, who fed us prime rib for dinner, fresh homemade pies, and amazing breakfast sandwiches in the morning. We had a bank of computers and big screen, and a custom engineered software for tracking our progress. We definitely do know how to spend 48 nearly continuous hours at a race track in comfort.
To make it even better we added several key members to the crew… one that was a karting national champion, one that is a veteran Trans-Am crew chief and another veteran crew chief for multiple Daytona 24 hour and Sebring 12 hour races. All this to round out a team of drivers who all have won championships in one form of racing or another. You just can’t get any better company to hang with, and that’s a fact!
Even if we did come up a little short, we are very proud of the team and the effort each and every one of them put into this year’s race. We’d also like to take this time to thank our sponsor, BFGoodrich, who provided us with the best tires and support that anyone could ask for. The BFGs were performing awesome all race long and provided us with the consistency that is needed in an endurance race. We were never caught off guard with unexpected tire wear like we had experienced in past years with different brands. And the recommendations we received during the test day and the race turned out to be spot on, again this is something new we had not been able to completely rely upon in the past. Our hats off to the good folks at BGGoodrich!
We’d also like to thank MazdaSpeed, Carbotech Brakes, Dent Devil, Midas, Wyatt Fire Protection, Columbia Insurance, and E&L Auto Parts for their continued support over the years. Each and every company brought a huge amount of support to the team and gets our heat-felt Thank You!
Check back often, we’ll have some driver recaps soon!
